February 2012 – Citizens Bank Park, Home of the Philadelphia Phillies, Philadelphia, PA
New sod was installed for the Philadelphia Phillies after the 2012 Bridgestone Winter Classic was hosted in their outfield area. Hummer Turfgrass Systems, Nolan Thomas & Co. and Phillies Head Groundskeeper, Mike Boekholder, worked together on this project and stand on the newly installed surface at Citizens Bank Park.

Fall of 2011/Winter of 2012 – Lincoln University, Lincoln University, PA
Hummer Turfgrass Systems has been contracted to construct a new baseball and softball facility for Lincoln University. The new facilities are part of a complete campus makeover at the Chester County, Pennsylvania campus. Hummer will provide complete athletic field construction services for this project.
Fall 2011
This fall Hummer Turfgrass Systems did multiple fall baseball renovations. The services that we offer with our renovations include infield edging, infield grading, pitcher’s mound and batter’s box clay work, laser grading, fertilization, topdressing, and overseeding.

August 2011 – Sheppard & Myers Stadium, Hanover, PA
Hummer Turfgrass Systems is involved in a total stadium overhaul in Hanover, PA. Home to Hanover School District’s football team the site is being renovated with new fencing, bleachers, track, and playing surface. Hummer re-graded the field and is installing the Sand Grid Drainage System. New sod will be the finishing touch on this project.
July 23, 2011 - Hagerstown Municipality Field Emergency Repair
Hummer Turfgrass Systems was contacted early Saturday morning by the Hagerstown Municipality to help them in crunch time. A light pole had fallen on the field during Friday night’s storm and damaged the turf. Hummer brought in thick cut Kentucky Bluegrass sod to repair damaged field area in preparation for a 3:05pm Saturday game. It was a quick and easy fix for the experienced Hummer crew.

Spring 2011 - Penn State University, Holuba Hall
During the spring of 2011 Hummer Turfgrass Systems resurfaced the practice facility, consisting of two football fields, for Penn State University’s football team in University Park, Pennsylvania. Both fields were stripped with Hummer’s Koro milling machine which removed three inches of material. Over 2,000 tons of sand were spread and laser graded over the freshly milled fields. The final step was the installation of thick cut sod with one and half inches of sandy soil attached.
Spring 2011 - Lancaster County Solid Waste Management
Hummer Turfgrass Systems worked with the Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority to install a Little League baseball field near the new wind turbines at Turkey Hill in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Hummer provided site grading and sod installation services. A temporary irrigation systems was used the keep the sod watered throughout the summer.
Spring 2011 - Indian Valley High School
Hummer Turfgrass Systems worked to remediate the Varsity baseball outfield at Indian Valley High School in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. The outfield was used as a staging area for the school construction and received heavy abuse. Hummer provided grading and nutrient applications as well as Kentucky bluegrass Big Roll sod installation. The new sod has been irrigated with one of Hummer Turfgrass’ portable irrigation pipe systems.
Spring 2011 - Mifflinburg High School
Hummer Turfgrass Systems recently completed the stadium football field at Mifflinburg High School in Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania. Hummer provided grading and coordinated the site prep for the field. Nutrient applications were completed per soil testing results and Kentucky bluegrass Big Roll sod was installed over one and a half days. The field is being irrigated with one of Hummer Turfgrass’ portable irrigation pipe systems.
May 2011 - The Hill School
In May 2011, Hummer Turfgrass Systems completed renvations of the Far Baseball Field at The Hill School in Pottstown, PA. Updates on the completeion can be viewed at the following links.

Spring 2011 - Pennsylvania Classics Soccer
Hummer Turfgrass Systems will construct a new soccer practice field as a part of the club’s new complex in Lititz, PA. Hummer will also provide seeding of the surrounding area as well as stabilization and erosion control measures on these areas. Hummer has worked for the club in the past, grading and seeding the club’s Classic Park on Manheim Pike in Lancaster, Pa. as well as performing ongoing turf maintenance on the 30 acre complex.
December 2010 – Spring Township Youth Athletic Association
Hummer Turfgrass Systems has completed five infield renovation at three parks throughout Spring Township. Removal of built up edges are re-grading work was performed.
December 2010 - The Hill School
Hummer Turfgrass Systems has been contracted to relocate the Varsity baseball field at The Hill School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Hummer will provide site layout, excavation and sod work on the new field. Construction started in late December 2010 with a Spring 2011 completion date.
December 2010 – Penn State Abington
Hummer Turfgrass Systems completed a total field renovation for Penn State Abington at Alverthorpe Park in Jenkintown, PA this past. The field will be ready for opening day in Spring 2011.
November 2010 - Spring City

September 2010 - Immaculata University
Hummer Turfgrass Systems completed a new construction project on the campus of Immaculata University this past September to . The new field boosts a full warning track, bullpens, in-ground irrigation, and Kentucky Bluegrass sod. The field will be ready for opening day in Spring 2011.

The 2010 Little League World Series is nearly halfway over, and with such a time-sensitive sporting event, weather concerns can never be put on the bench.

The fields in South Williamsport have many built-in features to avoid weather-related problems. To prevent field flooding, the stadium has a storm drain and a brand-new sand grid drainage system. The field is slightly raised in the center to form a crown, and high-quality infield mix and field conditioners are used to help with field drainage.

As for the hill above Lamade Stadium, where many children participate in cardboard sledding, Miller said the grass never has a problem regrowing.

Preparations on the fields begin as soon as the snow melts.

"This field is treated like a Major League Baseball field," she said. "We have just as many games and events on this field as a Major League field, and even though it's just smaller, that's the only difference... We take very good care of this field."

With a light rain falling grounds crews have been busy keeping fields tip top at both Volunteer and Lamade stadiums. Workers said the little league complex got about an inch of rain Sunday morning but because of the diligent work of the grounds crews, not a single game has been postponed so far at the 2010 Little League World Series.

"The fields are in great shape. These fields take a lot of water. They've got a really good drainage system to them. Right now we're in very good shape right now," said Chris Lessig of the grounds crews.

Hummer Turfgrass is again working closely with Little League International to prepare their fields for the 2009 Little League World Series. Hummer has done minor renovations on Lamade Field as well as the reconstruction of the headquarters lawn.

Hummer Turfgrass worked with the Brandywine Little League to renovate Junior/Senior Dyer Field. Brandywine Little League supplied the labor and Hummer supplied the sod and operators to complete the work.

Hummer Turfgrass has been selected to renovate a lacrosse / soccer field for the Moorestown Friends School in Moorestown, NJ. This is the second field that we have renovated for Moorestown.

Hummer Turfgrass has been selected to renovate Goodman Field at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. The new Kentucky Bluegrass field will be completely regraded and will feature automatic irrigation as well as the Hummer Sand Grid Drainage System. This is the second field that Hummer has renovated for Lehigh. In the summer of 2007 the Hummer Sand Grid Drainage System was installed on Ulrich Field. The new field will be installed and ready for the Mountain Hawks 2008 football season.
April, 2008
Hummer Turfgrass will reconstruct the stadium field at Solanco High School in Quarryville, PA. The new Kentucky Bluegrass field will feature in ground irrigation as well as the Hummer Sand Grid Drainage System. The field will be completed in August 2008.
March, 2008
Hummer Turfgrass Systems has been selected to construct 2 practice soccer fields at Penn State University. The fields are part of the expansion of the Jeffery Field Complex. Both fields will feature Hummer Sand Grid Drainage, irrigation, and will be completely sodded. These fields are the latest addition to the athletic complex at Penn State. The expected completion date is Summer 2008.

Hummer Turfgrass Systems VP Ben Burns was honored by the KAFMO with the Fowlers Founders Award for his dedication to KAFMO and for advancing and making a difference in the sports turf industry of PA. Ben has been a longtime employee of Hummer Turf and is very respected in the industry. He has been involved in the design and construction of numerous athletic fields throughout the Mid-Atlantic.
