Hummer Turfgrass Systems, Inc. has recently completed a total field renovation for Penn State Abington. The baseball field at Alverthorpe Park has been transformed from a recreation level field into an elite NCAA caliber surface. These improvements to the field are part of Penn State Abington’s ongoing commitment to their campus, the baseball community, and the residents of Abington Township. The field contours have been shaped to allow for safe play as well as a new crushed stone warning track installed. A new outfield fence has been added as well as new infield mix. To finish the improved field wall to wall Kentucky Bluegrass sod was installed in December of 2010. The field will be ready for play in the spring of 2011.
